Skylar Woodward

CEO and Co-Founder of Puddle

Our guest today, Skylar Woodward comes to us from San Francisco, where he has worked with one of the biggest names in tech, Yahoo!, as on of the first engineers of Yahoo! Messenger and founded the Mac OS/iOS team. In 2005 he co-founded Kiva.org, the first online micro-lending site, which transformed lives across the world. Today, he is the CEO and co-founder of Puddle, an online money-sharing network, which allows users to borrow up to 5x their contribution to the “puddle” of money available as long as they return it within 6 months.

Three main takeaways:

  • How Puddle works exactly. It’s not social lending. It’s not an underwritten loan. So what’s the format?
  • Buying his home in San Francisco in 2004 as the market was about to burn.
  • Why he doesn’t automate any of his finances.
